General Application Notes
- Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected.
- Candidates whose result has not been declared may also apply, provided they produce the result / certificate of the qualifying examination by the last date of admission as per the list in which the student's name figures.
- The last dates for acceptance of application forms for each of the programmes are shown in the Academic Calendar.
- Those satisfying eligibility requirements will have to face a written test. Interview for all programmes will be conducted at the Institute (date provided in the Academic Calendar).
- Attendance in a 3-day Personality Development Camp is mandatory for all admitted students in Semester-I. Those who do not complete this programme will have their admission automatically cancelled.
- The list of candidates selected for interview (after passing the written test) will be displayed in order of their Entrance Test Roll No. on the Notice Board of the Faculty/Department/Centre concerned, as well as on the JVBI website on the dates given in the admission schedule.
- In all programmes, admission will be made on the basis of academic merit along with marks in the written test and performance at the interview.
Rules Regarding Admission
- All selected candidates must submit Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate in original at the time of admission on or before 15 October 2025.
Late fee: Rs. 250/- if submitted by 31.10.2025, Rs. 500/- if submitted by 07.11.2025.
- If a candidate fails to complete admission formalities by the prescribed date, he/she will automatically forfeit the right to admission.
- The Institute reserves the right to refuse admission in any individual case without assigning any reason.
- No candidate will be allowed to take up a full-time job while pursuing a full-time course. Those employed at the time of admission must produce a certificate of leave from their employer within one month from the date of admission — failing which, admission will be automatically cancelled.
- A student of Semester-I detained due to shortage of attendance will no longer remain a student of the Institute. Such students will have to seek fresh admission and go through the entire admission process again.
- A student of other than Semester-I who has not taken examinations due to attendance shortage may be given re-admission in the same class of that course against payment of fee for that semester. If he/she fails to fulfill the attendance requirement after re-admission, no further chance will be given.
- Fresh admission to a new course will be granted only to those candidates whose results of qualifying examinations are completed in all respects by the last date of admission.
Reservation of Seats
Reservation of Seats will be as per Norms of Rajasthan Government.
Attendance
- Students shall be required to be regular in classes and attend not less than 75% of the aggregate of lectures, tutorials, practicals of all compulsory, optional, honours and subsidiary subjects to be eligible to appear in annual/semester examinations. Any student with less than 75% attendance will not be allowed to appear in the written examination.
- Attendance shall be counted from the date of admission in the respective programme.
- If a student is found continuously absent from class without any information for a period of 7 days or more, his/her name shall be struck off from the rolls.
- Request for relaxation in attendance on account of participation in N.C.C., N.S.S., Institute Sports, and other Institute-organised activities must be sent to the Head of the Department / Principal within 15 days of the function/activity through the respective in-charge.
- Shortfall of 5% attendance can be condoned by the HOD/Principal on account of sickness — subject to producing sickness and fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner within seven days from recovery, or on account of any other extenuating circumstances supported by documentary evidence. The conduct of the student will be highly recommended. Further condonation up to another 5% may be considered by the Vice-Chancellor for any other circumstances, provided the request is duly supported by documentary evidence and strongly recommended by HOD/Principal concerned.
Re-Admission
- If a student remains absent for consecutively seven days without leave/permission, his/her name shall be struck off from the rolls by the Department concerned, and it will be conveyed to the office of the competent authority on the same day or latest by the next day.
- Such a student may apply to the Vice-Chancellor through Head of the Department/Principal for re-admission within 7 days from the date of issuance of the strike-off notice.
- Re-admission will be effected by paying Rs. 2,500/- as fine. If the name is struck off on any other ground, the same re-admission fee applies.
- In case of blank semester in core B.Ed./M.Ed./B.A.-B.Ed./B.Sc.-B.Ed., re-admission fee will be 50% of the total fee (as per government rules).
Admission to Hostel
- Students desirous of admission in the hostels should contact the Chief Warden of the Institute for admission formalities.
- Students willing to stay in Air-Conditioned Rooms should apply to the Chief Warden. Allotment is subject to depositing the requisite fee for AC rooms. AC rooms are provided on first-come-first-served basis as per availability in Yuva Lok building.
- Students admitted in hostel are required to pay the full fee for the academic year in advance. Residents must strictly follow hostel rules.
- No hostel facility is provided to Boys, part-time students, and distance-mode students.
- Hostel security will be refunded at the time of leaving the Institute on producing 'No Dues' certificates from the sections concerned along with the original receipt of security paid.
- Information regarding hostel fee is given under the head of fee structure (mentioned at page no. 58 of the prospectus).
- All hostellers are required to wear the Identity Card of the hostel issued by the Institute in the campus.
- Any violation of hostel byelaws by a hosteller will be liable to disciplinary action.
- Relatives/parents/guardians as mentioned in the admission form will only be allowed to meet hostellers during day-time.
- Relatives/parents/guardians are not allowed to stay in the hostel.
Rules & Regulations Regarding Care of Equipment
- Equipment will be issued by the Store In-charge to the students on due authorisation by the Head of the Department concerned.
- Each student to whom equipment has been issued must sign on a receipt.
- Any physical damage to equipment will be the direct responsibility of the student(s) in whose name the equipment is issued.
- Students returning equipment after the due date will be charged a late fee.
- Students must immediately inform the maintenance staff and teacher of any defects they experience while handling the equipment.
- If a student loses or damages equipment issued to him/her, he/she should immediately inform the office through their Head of Department (Stores/Faculty/Administration) with full details of the circumstances.
- Student who has lost or damaged equipment will be required to replace it within reasonable time, with the identical piece(s) or part of the equipment, or pay the current market value.
- In case of damage or loss of any equipment by students working in a group, the fine will be levied collectively on the assigned group. At the time of admission, an undertaking will also be taken from the student to this effect.
Student's Discipline
- Every student should maintain the discipline of the Institute.
- No student is allowed to visit places or areas declared by the competent authority as "Out of Bounds" for students.
- Every student is required to carry his/her Identity Card issued by the competent authority. The card must be produced or surrendered as and when required by the Proctorial Staff, Teaching and Library Staff, and Officials of the Institute.
- Any student found guilty of impersonation, giving a false name, or forgery shall be liable to disciplinary action.
- Loss of Identity Card must be reported in writing to the Competent Authority. New Identity Card will be provided after charging a penalty of Rs. 100/-.
Prohibition and Punishment for Harassment and Ragging
Anti-Ragging Cell
RAGGING in any form is strictly prohibited within the premises of the Institute, in the premises of the Hostel, or in rented quarters outside the campus and any part of the JVBI system as well.
What Constitutes Ragging
The Institute has adopted UGC guidelines framed on the basis of Lyngdoh Committee. Ragging shall constitute any one or more of the following acts:
- Any conduct by any student(s) whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
- Indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student(s) which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
- Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do, and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
- Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
- Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
- Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.
- Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.
- Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture of a fresher or any other student.
- Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.
- The student is required to submit online undertaking/affidavit each academic year on website www.antiragging.in and www.amanmakement.in and forward email received (with registration number and weblink) to the Nodal Officer of the Department/College. The list will be updated every 24 hours. Anti-Ragging undertaking reference number is to be mentioned in the admission form.
Administrative Action in the Event of Ragging
The institution shall punish a student found guilty of ragging as per the procedure prescribed:
- The Anti-Ragging Committee shall take appropriate action, regarding punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident and nature/gravity of the ragging established by Anti-Ragging Squad.
- The Anti-Ragging Committee may award one or more of the following punishments:
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
- Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process.
- Withholding result.
- Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from one to four semesters.
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarment from getting admission to any other institution for a specified period.
- Where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
- An appeal against the order of punishment shall lie with: (i) Vice-Chancellor of the University for affiliated/constituent institutions, (ii) Chancellor for University-level orders, (iii) Chairman or Chancellor of the Institution for institutions of national importance.
- Where a lapse is attributable to any member of faculty/staff in reporting or taking prompt action, departmental disciplinary action will be initiated against such member, in addition to penal laws regarding abetment of ragging.
Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell
As a part of the Policy against Sexual Harassment, JVBI seeks to maintain and create an academic and work environment free of sexual harassment for students, academic and non-teaching staff. This will also apply to outsiders and residents on the JVBI campus.
All complaints of ragging and sexual harassment will be heard and redressed by the Committee, framed for this purpose from time to time by the Vice-Chancellor of the Institute and in accordance with the rules framed for the purpose.
Breach of Discipline Includes
- Use of non-vegetarian food items, smoking, tobacco, drugs and any intoxicants including alcohol and alcoholic products.
- Irregularity in attendance.
- Causing disturbance to classes, offices, libraries, auditoriums, play grounds, etc.
- Misconduct or misbehaviour of any kind at the time of meetings or during curricular/extra-curricular activities of the Institute.
- Misconduct or misbehaviour of any kind at the examination centre.
- Misconduct or misbehaviour of any kind towards a teacher or any employee of the Institute or any visitor.
- Causing damage to the property of the Institute.
- Giving publicity to misleading accounts or rumours amongst the students.
- Refusing to produce or surrender the Identity Card as and when asked by competent authority and other staff.
- Students found guilty of breach of discipline shall be liable to punishment such as fine, campus ban, expulsion or rustication.
- All powers related to student discipline and disciplinary action vest with the Vice-Chancellor. However, the Vice-Chancellor may delegate any/all of his/her powers as deemed proper to any other competent authority of the Institute.
Award of Degree
- Students who successfully complete the programmes of study will be awarded degrees at the Convocation. If convocation is not organised, degrees will be distributed from the counter after approval by the concerned statutory body.
- The examination results of each semester will be displayed on the website of Institute jvbi.ac.in. The detailed grade card of each semester will also be displayed on the website. Consolidated marks card will be issued after completion of the programme. Students can download the marks for re-evaluation purposes etc.
Dual Programme Note
Similarly, a student can pursue two academic programmes — one in full-time physical mode and another in Open and Distance Learning (ODL)/Online mode — or up to two ODL/Online programmes simultaneously.
